Burlington’s third annual Transit Users’ Forum will see participants have their say in the future of the city’s bus system. The Forum is set for Saturday, Apr. 1, starting at 10am at the Burlington Central Library.
Participants will have their say in a real-time survey of Forum participants that will help to guide a city-sponsored transit study that has just gotten underway. The study was part of the 2017 city budget, which devoted no new money to transit but set up the study to guide what will hopefully be a new commitment to transit.
Jeff Black, the interim director of Burlington Transit, will make a presentation to the Forum and conduct the survey, marking the first time BT has participated in a major way in a community transit initiative.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Burlington Transit’s participation,” commented BFAST Chair Doug Brown. “We’re happy to be able to work with Burlington Transit to improve the system and optimistic that the views of the people who attend the Forum will help to shape a new direction for public transportation in Burlington.”
For the second year, the Forum will present an annual report card to Burlington Transit based on how well the system has responded to the suggestions of participants at last year’s Forum.
Due to the interest in last year’s Forum, the meeting will extend for another 30 minutes, to 12:30. Doors open at 9:30 for registration and a free continental breakfast.
